Sportsmen of Westport

Who we are...

The Sportsmen of Westport, founded in 1960, is an organization that strives to recognize and honor distinguished groups of individuals for their outstanding accomplishments on the playing fields, and for their contributions of community service.

 What we do...

Each year, the Sportsmen of Westport Committee members meet to discuss worthy candidates for a variety of adult recognition awards. These include: National Award, Citizenship Award, P.A.L. Award, Coaching Award, Women’s Award and a select number of Sportsmen Awards. In May, 2005, the committee established the William A. Krause, Jr. Humanitarian Award in honor of our past president, Bill Krause, who passed away in February, 2005.

In addition, we work in conjunction with the Staples High School Tuition Grants Committee, who select five student athletes as recipients of a $1000 scholarship toward their college tuition. This is based on need and contributions to their sport.

Each spring, the Sportsmen hold its Dinner of Champions to honor the award winners and scholarship recipients where they can be recognized by their family, friends, and colleagues for their outstanding accomplishments and service to our community.
